Darragh

In November 2023, we found out Darragh had a heterotaxy syndrome called right atrial isomerism. His heart was severely affected. His other organs were also affected and he didn't have a spleen.

Out of kindness we chose to TFMR.

When he died, the things that meant the most to me were the knitted hat and knitted hearts. At the time, I could only make double crochet blankets, so I never got to make him a hat. The fact that someone else out there cared about him means so much to me.

I want others to receive the same love and care in the things I make.

I kept the hearts with him for a while. I can't touch him anymore. But when I hold a heart, I know that it touched him and I can be that little bit closer to him.

Now I make hearts in the hope that I can give that connection and softness to others.
